Yesterday I was reworking an old digital drawing of mine, depicting a man struggling with a skeleton. I transported it to the terrain of classical painting, with an eclectic and partially new mix of styles. It was developing normally, quite spectacular but pertinent to the theme, when a bizarre addition to the image prompting, apparently innocuous and low-impact (a stylized mountain under a yellow moon, defined by colored signs that look like Arabic writing) seems to have driven the model mad: the black of this new contribution seems to have added to the scenes the figure of "death" with a human face, wrapped in the classic black cloak, the rate of monstrosity has risen and an element of almost blasphemous lasciviousness has also been introduced. "Scandalous" images came out, largely unpublishable, but of enormous symbolic impact, truly disturbing. Only some I was able to "moderate" and assemble into a mini-series, the others will remain private. It's the first time that AI catches me off guard in this intimate dimension; before it had limited itself to aesthetic wonder, while now it begins to disturb. I will have to exercise accurate critical control, without yielding to the temptation of the sensational image.
